Memorial Weekend

Our friends, the Boston's, invited us to go up to New Hampshire this last weekend for Memorial Day. We had a great time. We were able to do and see a lot of fun things. We went to a place called the Flume that had a pretty walk in the White Mountains with waterfalls and pretty sights, then we went whale watching! So fun, but all of our pictures are videos, sorry! We were able to see about 10-12 humpbacks. It was a lot of fun, but kind of a long boat ride for the girls. We also were able to go to the beach twice, saw a lighthouse and watched fireworks. We also ate Maine Lobster, yummy! Oh, and lot's of other yummy food that the Kane's (Kelley's parents) made for us. All in all it was a great trip. Hailey and Alexander had a lot of fun together too. I also doubled the number of states I have been to in this trip alone! Sad I know, I have been no where, but I'm working on it. Maybe someday I'll catch up to Derek and get to see some of what he's seen. Thanks again to the Boston's and Kanes!

Potty Funnies

I just thought I would share the funniest thing that Hailey does. Here's basically a run down of how it goes. Hailey, in a public place (grocery store, mall, restaurant, etc.) will say she has to go to the bathroom. Then, I take her there. As soon as we walk in and she sees the toilet, she gives this yucky face, says it is dirty or stinky and walks out, refusing to even consider going to the bathroom on such a toilet. Then, if we don't return home quick enough that she can hold it home, she will tell me that she has to go camping potty. Yes, this is the term in which I have explained going outside, or when I hold her up. So, we return once again to the bathroom, only for her to insist that I hold her above the toilet. Granted, this only works if the bathroom was dirty, not stinky. If it stinks, there is no chance of her going there, she will hold it 'til we are home. She has even gagged before from the smell of public restrooms. Her gag reflex is so sensitive. If she smells her own bowel movement it is a common occurrence to get a gag or two out of her while she wipes. Derek says that only my child would care if a bathroom was dirty or stinky. Any other two year olds care that you know?!?!

A Milestone

Yay class of 2010! This last Friday Derek had his White Coat Ceremony. It is basically a formality, but fun none the less. It is a ceremony where all the students receive their white coats, as they are now going to enter into the clinic and work on patients!!! It was a lot of fun and we went to this fun restaurant, Hibachi grill, afterward with some others of our year to celebrate. We are so proud of Derek! By the way, check out the face of our friend Ben in the picture of Derek and I at the restaurant, typical Ben!!

Nerd for Life

So, with my (Kristen's) finals finally done for the semester I feel a little relief. Yet, I am realizing how big a nerd I am. I have to wait for the results of a couple of papers to know my final grades and I am dying!! Not only do I want to know if I got the A, but it kills me to think that I might not. Plus I got an 89% in one of my classes which just makes me angry! So, I guess that I still have more to learn, that B's are okay, I guess, if I have to, if you make me, uggghhh!!! And, hopefully the rest will be A's. But, another semester down toward the degree, so I just shouldn't complain.

Nice weather

It has been fun to get some nice weather lately, so we have been spending a lot more time outside. When Derek is home, Hailey begs him to drag her in the tobagan down the hills, she loves it. She also LOVES to pick the dandilions outside. She then puts them in the compartment of her little car, through the tiny hole on top. Note the spoils of her labor. It is really funny. Here are some pictures, most of them are from when the weather was a little cooler, hence the jackets.

Crawling

Well family, Ashlyn is crawling! It is very interesting army crawl, but it's official. It is a rare view to see her crawl though, but not for lack of ability. She is just so happy to sit in one position and play! But, when I move around the house she follows or when that toy is just too far out of reach. Hailey is growing up so fast. Her newest thing is to assign Derek, her and I roles that we each have to pretend. She usually is the lion, and we are some weak little animal like the snake or chicken. It is so funny. She also is in the why what phase which I am not sure is good. Even when she knows what we are doing it is, "What are you doing, why?" She is also my big singer... watch out American Idol! She sings so many songs, and she actually knows most the words. Hope all is well!
