The girls' newest feats

Sorry this may bore some, but the family loves to know how the girls are progressing. So, here's a run down of what new feats they have accomplished.
Ashlyn: She is walking everywhere! She's been walking around the house for almost a month, but now she's starting to want to go everywhere bipedally. She says mom, dad, and hi. She has three teeth in completely and I think is working on a few more. She has so much personality. She is outgoing and pretty tough. She does not let Hailey run her over, she has attitude!
Hailey: She is definitely two with the attitude that pours out of her! She is now starting to write her letters and has about 4 down that you can tell what they are. She draws the most amazing things. Without provocation, she will draw a person, and it really looks like a person (stick figure). I will have to scan one in for proof and keep sakes. She is taking swim lessons and is getting pretty good at the motions and putting her face in the water. She also sings all the time. She has a few primary songs memorized and some others as well.

Six flags, last week.

Last Monday Derek and I were able to go to Six Flags with our good friends, the Rogers. We had a watch-our-kids-all-day pass to cash in with the Marsh's (thanks by the way!) so we were able to go and enjoy all day on the big kid rides. We had a great time and especially enjoyed Kingda Ka, the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world! Yeah, we rode it, that's right :) The best part was at the end of the night when we got to the car and realized the Jeremy's keys had fallen out on a coaster! We got to enjoy the day, just that much longer. Special thanks to Eric for coming to get us! It made the day that much more memorable. It was so fun, can't wait to do it again!

Happy father's Day!!

This is my quick tribute to my husband... Top ten reasons he's such a great dad!!(In no particular order)
10. He reads to my girls, sound effects and all.
9. He works really hard for his family.
8. He gets on the floor and plays with the girls.
7. He will have a pretend tea party with Hailey.
6. He will sing to them, which he does NOT do anywhere else.
5. He is a great example and teaches them.
4. He changes dirty diapers.
3. He is so willing to get up with a crying baby in the middle of the night.
2. He loves his girls, and shows it!
1. He would do anything for his children, including plenty unlisted.

Miles For Smiles 5K Run

I know what you are thinking, WHAT?! Yes, today I got up and ran a 5K. A club at Derek's school sponsored it to raise money for a program that they do to give dental care in Haiti. It was a really good experience and overall I enjoyed it. I am definitely no runner though. It was pretty frustrating to run through the finish line and have a woman tell me I didn't look like I'd even ran. Yes, she was saying this as a compliment, but it just added to my frustration that I didn't feel like I really tried that hard. I did, but from the first bit, I couldn't breathe!! I was so limited by my pathetic attemts to breathe! So, next time I'll get an inhaler and ask a pro like Jordan for some breathing tips in advance so that maybe I can run it a little faster! But, I did it and it was fun, even if I finished like 10 minutes after my friends! Any other wanna-be runners can hang out with me in the back anytime!!

Memorial Weekend

Our friends, the Boston's, invited us to go up to New Hampshire this last weekend for Memorial Day. We had a great time. We were able to do and see a lot of fun things. We went to a place called the Flume that had a pretty walk in the White Mountains with waterfalls and pretty sights, then we went whale watching! So fun, but all of our pictures are videos, sorry! We were able to see about 10-12 humpbacks. It was a lot of fun, but kind of a long boat ride for the girls. We also were able to go to the beach twice, saw a lighthouse and watched fireworks. We also ate Maine Lobster, yummy! Oh, and lot's of other yummy food that the Kane's (Kelley's parents) made for us. All in all it was a great trip. Hailey and Alexander had a lot of fun together too. I also doubled the number of states I have been to in this trip alone! Sad I know, I have been no where, but I'm working on it. Maybe someday I'll catch up to Derek and get to see some of what he's seen. Thanks again to the Boston's and Kanes!
